I had high hopes for this restaurant, on the exterior it did look like a nice curry house, yet I would have done better with a 99p ready meal. The service was shocking, we had to sit for over 45 mins waiting for someone to take our order...no restaurant is that busy. The staff bought over the wrong meals and drinks to our table and the whole system was a mess. The food then came out, dripping in oil and mainly tasteless. Either too many spices had been used so your tastebuds were burned or it tasted like plastic. Having dined in some of the best restaurants in the world i am used to paying for quality food, yet a meal for 2 with one bottle of wine came to £125, and i cannot say it was worth it at all. I left there feeling cheated that my money had just gone into someones pocket who truly did not deserve it.

I have visited this restaurant a number of times and have eaten in a number of indian restaurants in the area. I have found Shampan to be very reliable in terms of quality of food - always freshly prepared and well presented. The service can be slow - especially on a Friday and Saturday night - because it gets exceptionally busy and the food is cooked fresh.

I have purchased takeaway meals from the restaurant which were were above average. The restaurant was busy and seemed to have a good atmosphere but the services was slow and unresponsive.
Probably sum up that is a usual local curry house.

Well I have to disagree with the previous comment. My husband and I have recently moved to the area and already been here 3 times, and not once been disappointed with the food. The service can be a little slow, so I am surprised the previous reviewer said they were rushed. I think it’s a good little local restaurant and will be going again.

This is a horrible and grotty little establishment that is still trading off of the back of former glory's in the shape of the much loved Shampan 1.
We were seated at 10pm - an hour after the time we had booked for with no apoligy, and then rushed through a disapointing meal of greasy popadoms and mutton curry masquerading as lamb.
The bill for 4 came in at a whopping £210 with only 4 beers and a bottle of revolting 'wine' on the bill.
An odious little restaurant that's best avoided!
