Had lunch with my wife and a friend. Enjoyed their Swedish cold buffet (eg herrings) for starters, their hot dish (potato dish) and fruit (raspberries and blueberries). French white wine was excellent (tasted like a South african). Service for wine, clearing away was slick. The waitress told us she was Polish. Most tables taken and our friend said these were locals. Just off the edgware Road, Garbo's makes a welcome change from the middle east restaurants in the neighbourhood.

A well priced restaurant decorated with pictures of actresses of the silver screen & Swedish paraphernalia. Plenty of typical Swedish starters. Most main meat dishes were £7-10, fish dishes were ~£10-13. Pytt y panna (a very tasty meat hash served with a fried egg and pickled beetroot) was delicious. There is a £1 per person cover charge, but this was well worth it for the extremely fresh bread basket (poppy & sunflower seed, soft white, rye crackers) which was replenished without us asking. The dessert menu was uninspiring (apple crumble, fruit salad, various ice creams) all around £3-4. The service was excellent. (P.S. I've never seen elk on the menu before, but they have it here!)
