my wife and I have been looking for a good local steak house for a couple of years ever since our favourite closed, my wife saw an advert for The Highland steak house so we tried it out for our wedding anniversary and were very pleased, the surroundings were pleasant, and compliments to the all brilliant friendly staff, all three courses we had were very good and the fillet steak was excellent and cooked perfectly to my wife's taste, my kleftiko was extremely nice. The bill was not excessive and all their prices were reasonable. We will definitely recommend the Highland to friends and famil

Traditional British steak house, established for 45 years.
Simple honest and uncomplicated, serving perennial favourites. This is the restaurant owned by George Michaels dad before George found fame & fortune allowing his dad to retire. The present owner brought it from him, and even though the décor changes the main menu never varies. The lunch time special does vary [sometimes a steak dinner for £10, sometimes a full roast dinner]. This is one of those comfortable restaurants that you eat in as a child; take your partner to as an adult, and still visit as an OAP. I had a whitebait starter [enough on my plate for 2 generous helpings] crispy batter & soft fleshy fish, followed by medium porterhouse steak with salad & sautéed potatoes, the steak was perfect, as you would expect from an established steak house, but the potatoes, sautéed in butter, were a little too rich for my palate, and isn’t it nice to be consulted about your salad dressing! Add a couple of glasses of house red [nice stuff, I took a couple of bottles home] and coffee, the bill was well under £30.
Don’t expect frills & thrills or banal themes; this restaurant excels at excellent friendly service, with a strong tried & tested menu cooked to perfection every time. This is the place to take those visitors who ask ‘what do you English eat?’ Take them there for the set Sunday dinners and a real taste of [relatively]old English fare.
