Visited this restaurant on Monday evening Sep 5. It was an absolute disgrace. The food was dreadful. We waited rather a long time for some wizened dried up starters followed by very average curries and tandoori chicken which had very obviously only been warmed up. Ugggh ! Lamb like old boots and sauces which were not fresh. Never - again - and to crown it all the waiter insisted that we pay cash (because their terminal was very slow ....... interesting excuse). There was something very strange about the whole place - there were only 2 tables occupied. Spoiled an otherwise wonderful day in London.

DO NOT GO TO THIS RESTAURANT. I went along expecting to enjoy a lovely indian meal, what I received instead was something I have never ever experienced in a restaurant and hope to never again.
We did not get off to a good start, the greeting was luke warm at best, in fact from the moment we walked into the restaurant we felt as if we were actually in the way and an annoyance.
The service although quick, was unfriendly and unhelpful. I was served quite possibly the worst gin and tonic i've ever had in my life and on trying to order champagne as we were celebrating, we were told they did not have the bottle we requested, which they made no apologies for. When the food came along it was clear that it had been sitting on a hot plate somewhere as there was a thick drying film over the top of the what can only be described as mediocre passanda sauce. Anyway, the best bit is about the come....! I started to eat the passanda and I bit into something hard, which turned out to be a broken piece of porcelain of some description about 1cm in length! I called the waitor over and not only did he make no apologies but he then went on to accuse me of planting the offending article myself in order to get free food!! He actually called me a liar to my face. We obviousley could not stay there after this, so went to leave, the manager grabbed my arm and insisted I pay for the food which I did minus the medocre passanda. It was a situation that could so easily of been diffused by the waitor apologising and offereing a drink on the house or free main course, instead he called me a liar to my face and runined a perfectly lovely evening.

Great meal well worth the money. Takari in covent garden has a certain wow factor to it's food. The jungle chicken was delicious and full of aroma that tantalise your taste buds. I had the mango lassi to wash it all down. It's genuine Indian food without pretense. My partner really enjoyed him self with the vindaloo. Ha ha. Excellent restaurant with fabulous staff very bollywood. You will really enjoy the place

What a wonderful experience. I had my 30th birthday here. As soon as I walked in, I was taken in by the buzz and vibrance of the place. The music was good, and while eating our starters. The service was excellent throughout- friendly, not remotely pushy and unrushed. The food surpassed expectations very tasty and generous portions. Would definitely go again

Takari has delivered a very desiarable venue to dine. I've been to there High Wycombe branch and both places have delivered a very high standard of food and service. The food was very nice. I would definitely recommend you try some of there signature dishes. Belive me you will not find them in your local (honey licious) it's a cross between chicken korma and mango chicken. Very nice pleasant restaurant.

The Takari was ideal for a first date - romantic setting and excellent food with an extensive drinks list! I would thoroughly recommend the resturant. It was difficult to catch the waitress' attention at times but this may just have been because it was very busy.

I went to this restuarant last night with my friends (7 people) and we ordered for the set menu It was a two course meal and the food was absolutely delicious and the kebabs were so soft.
It was a sumptuous feast where the plates and cutlery were in silver. It definately felt so royal!!!
Then we all ordered for Kulfi Faluda for our dessert and I would say it truely had Indian flavour and the quality was superb unlike most Indian restuarants where the the compromise on the quality of the desserts.
I have also been to the branches in wirral merseyside and I felt it lived upto the expectations of its counterpart.

We visited Takari in Covent Gardens, London for a pre-theatre dinner. I never review resturants but this was by far one on the nicest places I have ever eaten at. The ambience is excellent, food is first class and the service is second to none. The staff couldn't do enough to make our meal enjoyable and the resturant itself (including the toilets) was absolutely gorgeous. I would recommend this place to anyone who is looking to eat in the area, but it is pricey without the 50% discount.

Takari is an open diner with v high ceilings, generous walking space & a seating area by the bar that is comfortable & well placed. The staff were suitably attired, possessing the same pleasant manner indicative Gr8 atmosphere. The menu was limited but delicious. My wife and I shared veg and non veg starter, tasty on both counts.I had a succulent chicken main that was huge in size.Wife had prawn dish that was tasty but nt enough lol Dessert consisted of juicy fresh fruits.

We always have a great meal at Takari in Govent Garden. The ambiance is chic without being pretentious, the music is buzzing but not too loud, and the food is consistently delicious. There is a great selection of classic Asian dishes plus some inspired off-the-wall additions which add excitement to each experience. Prices are not bad for London but on the Top Table 50% offer they become very reasonable indeed, leaving more room in the budget for some of Takaris fantastic cocktails. Great for any occasion

My girlfriend and I dined at Takari last night. We'd booked for 8:30pm but had to wait 10 minutes for our table. From that point service was good. Dishes were excellent and came quickly, then we followed with fish Tikka pie (quite good) and the famous massalla chicken which was also very good.

Takari is an amazing culinary experience. Fusing fantastic Indian cooking with local ingredients and dishes from the UK makes an evening at Takari really fun. The waiters are hyper professional but friendly with it. They are also happy to advise on the best things to go for. Takari is not cheap - but it really shouldn't be cheap! The food is amazing and so is the atmosphere. If you can get a toptable deal, snap it up!

Takari was a really good find. It has a great location at the foot of the theatre land, and a really cosy atmosphere. The service was very attentive and helpful and the food was excellent, especially the Jungle Curry. I normally prefer Vindaloo but in this case the quality and lightness of the rice made me enjoy the Jungle Curry and maki even more, and the fish was extremely fresh as I would have expected. All in all a really good place to go for quality Indian food!

Takari was great. Went with my boy friend as we'd been wanting to go for a while. Three courses for £20 is a great value and the food was excellent. The lamb starter was amazing, melt in your mouth and by far the best lamb I've tasted. Service was brilliant, Would go again for sure.

Takari has got it just right. The atmosphere is calm, the food is excellent and you don't feel rushed. Every dish was well cooked and presented - we ordered 5 different main dishes between 4 of us and loved them all. We enjoyed the food so much we all ate 3 courses which is unheard of for me. It makes a great change to have delicious desserts in an indian restaurant. Service was spot on with just enough attention without being over the top. We will definitely return.

Another delicious meal at Takari! I love this place and feel very jammy that such a gem is right on my doorstep (a bonus when I have to crawl home cos I've eaten too much!) It's always heaving. Service is so hit and miss these days, but the consistently charming/warm team at Takari never fail to put on a good show. The swift delivery of hot poppadoms/dips on arrival sets the standard for the evening and the 50% discount brings the meal well within budget.

My friends and I attended this lovely restaurant in covent garden last friday and it was a truly wonderful experience. The decor was the main attraction, which looked great. The food was really tasty. The staff were attentive and didn't rush us though didn't advise on the menu at all which was fine as everyone had an idea of what they wanted. Would definitely recommend and return.

Takari was exactly how I hoped it would be - relaxed, friendly service with good Indian food. All the old favourites are on the menu, and my choice of Chicken Chilli Masala was spot on. My parents and boyfreind seemed happy with theirs too, and we got through a couple of bottles well priced and very drinkable red wine. Great place for a not-too-expensive family dinner.

On a short break to London we pre-booked takari restaurant. A very attentive waiter helped us with the menu and My wife. After asking if we had any particular food dislikes or allergies, we were served a series of 8 small "mystery" courses showcasing the chef's talents, every one of which was an absolute delight, having astonishing flavour. Each plate was presented with great flair, humour and theatricality. A great evening.

went there on the 12th for dinner as a group of 5. One of the worst Indians I have ever been to in the UK.The chicken tikka masala was served as chunks of chicken dipped in Tomatoe purry and the raita came served as blobs of yoghurt with shavings of cucumber at the top!!! The drinks were horribly over priced and the Bill was made on a slip of papaer which took several minutes to be checked and clarified. The food servings were small and the Chef ( if there was one ) had no clue of what Indian fod is like. It is actaully a Bangladeshi with all waiters newly employed. Will never go there again. manoj

We went on a Saturday night - it wasn't busy when we arrived. The service was dreadful - the food took ages to arrive & when it did it was not what we had ordered so thus we had to wait even longer. The rice was really dry & tasteless but the food was reasonably tasty. We went for the £14.95 for 2 courses offer. We were staggered when the bill arrived as the drinks were VERY overpriced. We won't be going there again & I certainly wouldn't recommend this restaurant. The staff are actually from Bangladesh so it's not even an authentic Indian restaurant. Disappointing.

Takari was a lovely little Indian restaurant. good prices and such friendly waiting staff.. The one thing i noticed the most was that the waiters were greeting partons by name, so its clearly a favourite with the locals of Govent Garden. The one thing that let restaurant down was the wait for food.. it took quite some time... but that was maybe more to do with the fact there were 15 of us and many other patrons... overall a lovely little hole in the wall.

A charming experience in every way. This little restaurant used to have two separate dining areas.
The menu is extensive, but not at all over-the-top, as some mainstream Indian restaurants can sometimes be. There is plenty of choice, without there being too much choice. Service is friendly and relaxed and the staff here seem to know their stuff. They certainly know their customers and on each of my visits, they know one of every two customers by name or from a previous visit - very impressive, and a good sign (why would you visit time and again if the food was lousy?)
One memorable experience here was the 'Chicken Tikka Special' we ordered. This is normally served by one of the Sikh managers, who delivers it to your table, straight from the tandoor and red hot. Before you know what he is doing, he pours a bit of brandy over it and lights it!
Prices are average, certainly for Covent Garden, and the quality of the food has always been good, sometimes excellent. One of my favourites is their Chicken Jalfrezi, with a lush paprike/capsicum and ginger flavour and ever-so-tender chunks of chicken. That, together with their excellent Kulfi is enough to keep me visiting again, and again,.....

I went here last week and it was without doubt one of the worst experiences I've had in 10 years of dining in London. To be fair, the food was passable (although be aware that they charge about £4.00 for popodams and chutney) and although the waiter had a body odour problem and they added on a 10% service charge for what was incredibly inattentive service, my isssue was the drinks bill.
The menu says a lager is £3.95. About standard for a pint in London you'd think. Only it's not and it's not clear on the menu either. It's actually double that for a pint. Of Carling. So you pay £7.90 for a pint. And my partner had two glases of wine, which again they don't advertise the cost on the menu. So we paid for three drinks (that's one pint and two glases of wine), nearly £20.00. Almost as much as the food in fact. I wouldn't mind but the menu is deliberately misleading so for all the good comments about this restaurant, I would never, ever visit again.

We went on early Wednesday evening as we have a show to attend near by.
The first impression walking into the restaurant was clean and tidy.
The waiter sat us down and he had a terrible smell of BO, which give us another thought.
When the food arrived, we looked at the portion and it was tiny. We tried the rice and it was dry, the nana was small (size of mini pizza), oily and not fluffy at all.
The price of the food does not match the quality of the food. If I had a choice between Weatherspoons and Takari, I rather go to Weatherspoon for a curry club night.
For drinks, my partner ask for small cobra, which they only do large bottle. As for me, I asked for tap water. When I was 3/4 through the glass, there was lime scale floating at the bottom of the glass. I asked the waiter for another glass as it has lime scale, he said the lime scale was due to the ice. So I ask him, next glass I dont want any ice. What he do, he brings me a jug with ice in it! The jug has water stain on it which put me off drinking any water.
The best bit was the chutney with the popadom! But that cost us $4.00 for 2 x popopdum and bit of chutney!
Overall I will not go back there again!
