I have never felt so strongly to write a review before, but this evening myself and two friends went to The China Garden for the first time, and I can honestly say I've never been so appalled. One of my friends arrived late, to which the waitress was very hostile about, attempting speed up our order, even though there was only two other tables occupied. While the food arrived quite quickly, I found two dark, straight hairs in my food - obviously not mine considering I'm blonde and curly - and politely told the waitress, who very grudgingly took my plate away, saying 'shame on you.' My food came back suspiciously quickly, however not one to usually complain, I didn't comment. Throughout the whole meal, rubbish was dragged in bags past our table, staff counted their days profit on the table next to us, which seemed slightly tacky, but still, we kept quiet. Then, when the bill came we noticed they hadn't told us what we had bought, it just had the overall sum, but it obviously included service charge. We called over member of staff who happened to be a waiter, and quietly told him that we weren't happy paying the service charge when I had found hairs, and the service was hostile and moody. He very quickly turned aggressive, causing a scene that we were obviously trying to avoid, and told us to 'shut up' numerous times. My friends and I were speechless, and asked for the number of a manager we could call to complain. He laughed in our faces and told us 'all i can give you is my number because i'm the manager! if you wan't to complain you can complain to me!' We left disgusted, and was told not to come back. I have never been so shocked about the levels of service in a restaurant or intimidated by a member of staff. I would NEVER recommend this restaurant to anyway, it's disgusting and should be shut down.
