My Review

9 out of 10 stars

We have been enjoying the hospitality and food of Gung Ho since it opened and go there four or five times a year. We are always given a friendly welcome and the food is delicious. We ate there on Saturday night and had a superb meal. The smoked chicken shreds, dim sum and duck and pancakes were fabulous, to name but three and the six of us had a delightful meal. It was busy and buzzy, full of atmosphere and great for people watching.
I am already looking forward to our next visit.

Gung Ho
I had been to this restaurant a few times over the years, usually to celebrate special occasions and had never been disappointed, so when I was planning another special outing I thought of going there again. I found this page when looking up the telephone No. and looked at the reviews. I was shocked to read them and almost didn’t book, but decided to give them a chance and I am so glad I did.
The whole evening was great. There were lots of people in the restaurant, eating and looking as though they were enjoying their meal. On arrival we were welcomed, and taking an extra person did not phase them, the food was tasty, each dish had good portions of chicken, prawns beef etc. the service attentive, and they had a good selection of wine. All seven of us enjoyed the occasion and the only slight grumble was that the hot flannels were not hot. The bill was in keeping with eating well.
I have to say that the whole experience was as good as I had remembered and I would recommend you to try them out.

So very disappointing the food at the Gung Ho was no different than a bad takeaway, everything we ordered was deep fried and bland. The restaurant was cold empty and uninviting, I understand we are in recession but eating out should be an uplifting experience we wish we had stayed at home and eaten cheese rolls. I feel sad that eating out has become such a lottery that no wonders so many restaurants are failing.
Yours disgusted HIC

we went to Gung Ho last night for my brothers birthday, after having some good meals there over the years i have to say it was one of the worst meals i have ever had. The food was awful. Small portions and still small when they try and do the trick of pushing 2 portions together, chewy overcooked meat, salty fish dishes, iceberg for wraps was soggy and old, all dishes came out luke warm and 5mins after we ordered them so probably just sitting in the back waiting to be ordered!? I would not recommend you go here, there are so many other excellent chinese restaurants where you wont be ripped off as it very expensive here too!

I'm afraid I have to agree with the previous reviewer, Nana Addow. I last tried Gung-ho a couple of years ago and had a very disappointing mean so thought I would try again. Unfortunately the place is still a con. Seaweed with grated scalops had no scalops. The glass of wine was very small and so was the beer. The Chinese Stir-Fried vegetables had mainly beanshoots and two pieces of broccoli, no mange-tous or baby sweet corns. The sizzling Chilli Beef had no beef. The sweet and sour chicken was not nicely prepared, they a very unappetizing boiled chicken. Its a great room and thats the draw. Apparently their old customer George Micheal doesnt eat there anymore so what more can I say?!

This is a fabulous and exquisite restaurant. The food and service is by far superior. The food is additive free and very very tasty!! This is a busy quality restaurant in a wealthy and celebrated part of London.

Don't even think about it! I ordered a selection of dishes, spare ribs(passable), dim sum (overly doughy and drenched in soy sauce), special fried rice (no taste whatsoever - how did they manage to get this wrong??) and Kung Po chilli chicken - a dish I have had many times in a number of Chinese restaurants (consisted of boiled pieces of chicken in a watery chilli sauce)! The one saving grace was the steamed vegetables. If you are looking for delicious Chinese food then this isn't the place to look.
