Ravi Shankar in Camden, London is something special. It is a 'celebration of the relationship between 'hospitality and food'. It also celebrates great ingredients - exciting flavours and seemingly excellent cooking techniques. It's menu features exquisite vegetarian dishes. Your plate comes alive with a culinary rainbow that excites your palate and has you begging for me. The service and hospitality are exceptional and children are most definitely welcome. A palace to go whether dining alone or with friends. Excellent!

We came to London from France just for a little visite and we are always liking vegetarian food, especially Indian. On this street of many restaurants we found this one and becuase it name is well known we went there. It was a big mistake. The service de table it was terrible. The food was not fresh and the addition was so high. The tables also were not clean, the floor was very dirty.

The service is appauling. The decor needs to be sorted out. Sorry won't be going back there again. The food isn't all that authentic. Lacks freshness and creativity. Good place for students to go to or those people who want to eat on a shoe string budget.

So delicious, even carnivores forget their craving for flesh! The drinks are interesting, as a kind of 'rosewater milkshake' that I ordered proved, and the thali at around £8 was fantastic- a silver platter of small but sumptous dishes was presented with crunchy purees and chapatti on the side. Dishes included a spicy serving of cauliflower in a dark tomato and red pepper sauce, unctuous lentils, tangy fried sweetcorn, various other veggie tasters and an utterly waistline destroying but fabulous soft sweet cheese/yoghurt of a golden hue. I admit that, in my uncouth excitement, I picked up the bowl and licked out every last smidgeon! Service is swift and polite without being overly gushy, and the basic but colourfully rustic decor is certainly pleasant enough. Inexpensive food that stimulates and satisfies in one fell swoop. Now that can't be bad!

The description here said they do not have a liquor license. Apparently that's changed because I ordered wine when I was there.
I liked the place overall. The ambience was lacking a little, but the food and service were both good. I went on two separate occasions and was pleased. One night I ordered a dosa, which was very filling. It was good, and so was the mint chutney that came with it. The second night I ordered the special, which was mutter paneer (peas and Indian cheese in a creamy sauce). It was very good and came with a little salad, dessert, and something else I can't think of (but remember fondly, whatever it was).
All in all, I was happy and would recommend the restauran
