Although I have not been to Lydon's for several months now, I would be very surprised if it had changed that much (see negative comment June 2009). It is a restaurant that has been in existence for many years and which I have visited on many occasions over the years with family and my husband (in large groups or just the two of us). I have found the food to be of excellent standard and the service to be most polite and unobtrusive. It is not a cheap restaurant but the comfort, ambience, service and food have always made it a most worthwhile experience. The unhappy customer must have been most unlucky. Perhaps he or Lydon's were having a bad day. This can happen to anyone and hopefully is the exception rather than the rule. I look forward however to visiting this establishment again soon and will give further feedback, which I trust will be positive. I would encourage others to do the same and not be put off by a review which is by no means in keeping with my experience of the restaurant.

A very poor experience. The food was very ordinary, especially the pasta. The service was dreadful - they were clearly trying to rush us through our meal. Within 40 minutes of sitting down, we we offered the desert menu, and the waiters seems surprised that we wanted them to slow down. We were not shown the specials, which only seemed to be shown to tables of four or above. The manager, who clearly knew we we unhappy, as upon paying our bill we asked for the service charge to be removed, didn't even bother to ask what the problem was. We will never visit this restaurant again.
