I do not agree with reviews below; I went to this restaurant last week and I found it to be excellent. I know they have a new chef which might account for the discrepancies. I had extremely well done gnocchi with tomatoes, broad beans, and grated salted ricotta, not to mention a superb pork fillet wrapped in herbs. The staff was friendly and attentive. As an Italian living here this was for me a great find, and certainly ranks as one of the best restaurants Italian restaurants in central london. The price (35pounds) was also more than fair for the quality of food served.

The staff viewed us with dsitain when we entered. We were told the empty restaurant could not (would not) accommodate us. We were told we could have bar snacks at Franks, if we sat at the back - out of sight!!!! What had caused such resentment? Our only crime was to visit this restaurant with smartly dressed teenagers.
Staff offensive to family groups. DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU VALUE YOUR FAMILY.

A venue for all occasions! Excellent food, service and ambience. What's more, it won't break the bank. I used to go here with friends on the weekend only (it's popular, so book), but have found it a discrete and atmospheric place for business lunches as well and am now a regular luncher there. For a treat, try the lobster pasta - amazing! The bar upstairs (Franks) is a gem pre or post eating. It's funky and fun, without being in your face.

Wow, what is great only continues to get better!!
Last week I went with a couple of friends that had heard of the rumour...great food, service, (great) drinks, music etc you guys will love it...well, the rumour only got better.
Unlike a lot of places one recomends, Franks is not a "what-happened-to-this-place" nightmare like many at the end of the night!
Since I've kept this gem up my sleeve, the menu is not the only point about this place that continually evolves for the better.
I'll be sharing this rumour many times again, and great to know it will always hold true!

Solid restaurant - it's basically Scalini's without the arrogance / rudeness. Great food, good service....got the downstairs restaurant if you're out with the boss, the upstairs if you're out ad hoc. Nothing is too much trouble. Occassionally, I've popped in without reservation (forgot to book and you can never get a table on a Saturday) and have had some food and drink upstairs. Worth a try if you're going out in town and you want a pitstop beforehand!

Great place! One of the few places in London where you can get really good food at reasonable prices. The lobster pasta was amazing, and I really liked the caprese salad for my starter. The atmosphere was very nice and so was the staff who really went out of their way to make the whole experience enjoyable. There's also a really good bar upstairs for drinks before or after dinner - definately plan to make this one of my regulars.

A delightful restaurant that despite it's modern decor has maintained the familiar appeal of it's predecessor, Ristorante Italiano that I frequented on previous trips to London. The food was excellent, the service attentive yet uninvasive. I look forward to my next visit.

This restuarant is incredibly overpriced; serving rather bland food in tiny portions. Service from some of the staff was excellent, but others were extremely unfriendly.
On the plus side, the decor is modern and everything is beautifully presented.
There are a number of decent and much cheaper Italian eateries around Shepherd's Market so give this a miss!
