My Review

3 out of 10 stars

Typical central London bar - small and overcrowded.

However, a real complaint would be the bar staff's unreasonable behaviour regarding service charges on drinks. Unfortunately they don't understand that in the UK service charge is obligatory and NOT mandatory. The Australian barman serving me took great umbridge when I asked him to rewrite the bill without the 12.5% service charge. He took this as reason not to serve me the drinks and held them behind the bar only to give them away for free to other customers! The most childish point was that he asked the people who took the drinks to have a word with me!

Result = Childish and amateur behaviour of the staff make this a no-go for me and my friends.

My Review

10 out of 10 stars

I visited Mews on Saturday for a birthday dinner and it was quite simply outstanding! I started with the crispy sea bream and mussels which were fantastic. The flavours worked wonderfully together, the seam bream mixing with the saffron and dill were just exquisite and a nice sized portion too. For my main course I went with the fish and chips. I can honestly say this was the best fish and chips I’ve ever had! The fish was so light and fresh tasting, not oily at all! For my dessert I had the chocolate tart with orange ice cream. It was excellent, very rich but not sickly and it tasted great accompanied with the orange ice-cream.
I think Mews of Mayfair is a true gem in the middle of Mayfair. A great restaurant and at very reasonable prices.
I will be returning very soon.

My Review

9 out of 10 stars

I've been here twice now, once for an anniversary and once for a business lunch and both times the service was impeccable and the food was delicious. The only thing that slightly let it down was that I had to give up my table after 2 1/2 hours. Make sure you save room for dessert because there's a devil masquerading as a penut crustada something which is heavenly!
