My Review

8 out of 10 stars

having booked an evening at the Prince Edward Theatre to see Jersey Boys we had lunch/tea at Amalfri resturant.

Greeting - Pleasant although not prompt
Seating - Very Good
Service - Slow on taking order but food was hot and beautifully prepared and delivered together.
Food - Beautifully presented, tasty and hot

We had a lovely meal and was very happy with the whole ambience in the resturant.

Recommendations
Serve a jug of water on the tables and speed up the service

Food was acceptable. The Saltimbocca tasted Italian, even though the seasoning was a bit in your face, mainly consisting of lemon and lacked the taste of sage, which would have made this dish more authentic. The pasta was a dissapointing mountain of noodles with no attention to detail. The service was appalling. When we asked to move away from the draught of the open window on a cool evening, we were told all other tables had been booked, but the restaurant remained half empty for the rest of the evening. The morale of the story: don't lie to your customers!
Unfortunately the cutlery was dirty, but the waitor was very quick to replace it.
Not a good good performance by Amalfi on that night...

This is a great place to have a meal and relax, the staff are friendly but they don't hassle you and if you want spend all night there with one course and some drinks then they are happy with that. I'm not saying it is the best italian food I've ever had but I would go there everytime I'm in the area because it is great value for money and you're guaranteed to have a good time! Would recommend it to anyone - one of the only restaurants in London that I would go to with friends or with a partner and feel I could still take the parents there.

I love Amalfi. I've been going for the past 2 years and its really nice. Very friendly staff, affordable food and good quality. I don't think its too crammed - but it is a small restaurant upstairs. I'll definitely keep going.

My Review

I've been going to the Amalfi for 20 years. Tonight I went for the last time.

I used to love the old Amalfi. I knew most of the waiters and on quieter mid week nights the staff would bring over a complimentary drink and have a chat and a laugh.

Since the reopening it is a disaster.

Upstairs is now so cramped we were sat on top of the people at the next table.

The menu has deteriorated considerably; it looks like a chain. The vegetarian choices have all but disappeared and there is no longer a specials board. We ordered olives and a basket of bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, seafood linguine and spinach cannelloni along with a bottle of wine.

What was once a basket

The service was slow.
The food was poor. I sent back my mussels as they were cold, they were returned having been microwaved and were horrible. The pizza's were burnt and tasteless. Complaint was met with indifference.
