As part of the huge King’s Cross regeneration project, this warehouse once used to stash grain has been spruced up to incorporate a new branch of Central Saint Martins University, coffee roastery and eatery Caravan, and acclaimed chef Bruno Loubet’s new veggie-friendly restaurant Grain Store. A new square – Granary Square – has been erected in front of it, currently one of the largest squares in Europe. Once upon a time this was where barges unloaded their cargo after travelling down Regents Canal; now there are rows of illuminated water jets which go off intermittently and provide visitors with something pretty to look at. In the summer giant screens show Wimbledon matches and other events.
