About The Olympic Park :

The Olympic Park in London is a new sporting complex in Stratford (East London) built specifically for the 2012 Olympic Games. However, even after the games, the site will become the focal point of sporting, cultural and music events for years to come.

The final design of the park was approved in 2007 with construction starting May 2008. Now in the final stages of completion of all the facilities prior to the arrival of the 180,000 a day that are expected to visit the park during the Olympic Games.

In addition to the 80,000 capacity Olympic Stadium, the Olympic Park is also home to the Aquatics Centre, Velodrome and BMX Circuit, as well as Fencing, Handball, Hockey and Basketball arenas. All of these have been designed and placed so that they are easily accessible for all visitors via the extensive network of footbridges and walkways which run through the complex. The journey to the Park itself should also be straightforward with the constuction of the brand new Stratford International Station within the Park.
