The Olympic Park in London sporting complex in Stratford (East London) was built specifically for the 2012 Olympic Games. However, even after the games, the site is still a focal point of sporting, cultural and music events.
The final design of the park was approved in 2007 with construction starting May 2008. Now in the final stages of completion of all the facilities prior to the arrival of the 180,000 a day visitors to the park during the Olympic Games.
In addition to the 80,000 capacity Olympic Stadium, the Olympic Park is also home to the Aquatics Centre, Velodrome and BMX Circuit, as well as Fencing, Handball, Hockey and Basketball arenas. All of these have been designed and placed so that they are easily accessible for all visitors via the extensive network of footbridges and walkways which run through the complex.
