Get into Turkish food

More than just kebabs...

Where: Babaji Pide
Mangal Ocakbasi
Antepliler

London’s latest restaurant trend is Turkish food, which is great news for skinflints as it’s cheap, filling and delicious. Gone are the days when Turkish cuisine meant a booze-soaking greasy kebab (nothing wrong with that, mind), as now restaurateur supreme Alan Yau of Hakkasan and Wagamama fame has turned his hand to the delights of pides – the Turkish equivalent of pizza – at new Soho eatery Babji Pide. At Brew they do Turkish eggs, served with thick yoghurt and chilli butter, while veteran Mangal Ocakbasi has traditional kebabs and meze. For the most authentic experience head to Green Lanes, in particular to Antepliler, which has excellent grilled meats, borek (feta stuffed in filo pastry), and lots of veggie options.
