What time does the tube start/stop?

There are no fixed timetables for the London Underground as it is a "metro" service. This means that trains run regularly (every few minutes) throughout the day.

Although the tube gets a lot of bad press, for the most part the service is actually very good. The trains run every few minutes on most lines, most of the time. Considering the size of London it's quite an achievement to run a consistent service at this level.

As a general guideline the trains start from around 5:30 am (except Sundays + 1 hour) and run until between 12:00 am - 12:30 am. You should always check with the station staff what time the last tube will be at that particular station if you plan to travel late. If you miss the last tube you can either try for a night bus or there are usually many cabbies who will gladly take the fare!
