Located on the Isle of Portland, Dorset, Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy is a centre for sailing with Portland Harbour and Weymouth Bay being the main areas used for sailing. Since its opening in 2000, it was host to local, national and international sailing events and it will also host the sailing events at the 2012 Olympics.
The harbour covers an area of 8.6 square kilometres and it is exposed to reliable winds from most directions, but sheltered from large waves which makes it ideal for sailing.
Spectators at the Games will be able to choose from a range of fantastic viewing points along the harbour area including along stone piers, coastal paths, pretty coves and beaches, all positioned along this beautiful section World Heritage Coastline.
