Sandblast presents Sahara Live Week, a week of live music and educational activities in London (April 20-27). The event brings sensational singer and percussionist Aziza Brahim from Western Sahara to promote Saharawi culture and music empowerment project Studio-Live.

As part of Sahara Live Week, Sandblast has partnered once again with the St Ethelburga's Centre for Reconciliation and Peace to host a fantastic night of Saharawi music and poetry next April 26. Aziza Brahim will be performing songs from her last album Mabruk (2012), inspired by the breath-taking poetry of her grandmother Lkhadra Mabruk.

The evening will be kickstarted by the screening of Poets of Protest - Poet of the Desert: Al Khadra, the beautiful documentary that Noë Mendelle (Scottish Documentary Institute, Edinburgh College of Art) released last year about this wonderful poetess, who composed poems during the 16 years of Saharawi war between 1975 and 1991.

There will be a Q&A with Aziza afterwards! A rare opportunity to listen to Aziza live, hear her speak and have her music put into the perfect context. Don't miss out!
