A Mail Art exhibition documenting Londoners’ feelings about the Olympic & Paralympic Games.

The evening will include the premiere of our film 'Have we Inspired a Generation?', exploring the legacy of the Games for the people of London.

One year on from the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics, this exhibition, curated by CoolTan Arts, will explore the impact of the Games and their lasting legacy, through visual, textile and sound art.

Inspired by the International Mail Art movement, where artworks are mailed, participants have used the iconic ‘postcard’ as a blank canvas to create individual artworks. Each postcard aims to tell you something about its sender and their place in time.

In the exhibition, visitors will see postcards which review the impact the Games have had on people – from the changing environment of East London and peoples attitudes (the disability verses different-ability) to the shared experience, the involvement of corporate sponsorship, the protection of the Olympic branding, the expense of hosting the Games and celebrating an athlete’s performance.

We are delighted to announce we will be joined on the evening by a special guest speaker Andy Barrow - Professional wheelchair rugby player for over a decade, triple Paralympian and three-time European Gold medallist for Great Britain.

The exhibition continues at Canada Water Library until Friday 20th September 2013.
