Performances will benefit Eaves Charity for Women

A world where irrational jealousy leads inevitably to murder.
Seven actors. A visceral story. Challenging misogyny.

This genre-busting production recounts the tragedy of Shakespeare's Othello in a bold and highly physical interpretation which puts the emphasis on the gender politics of the play. ‘Othello Syndrome’ exposes the damage caused by the way in which the traditional version of the story has entered our culture: the terrible myth of honour, the vile cult of virginity.

'Othello Syndrome' will be the third venture for Chameleon’s Dish into intelligent, rebellious, and feminist versions of Shakespearean plays which combine a rigorous approach to the text with heightened movement to make visually appealing and emotionally gripping theatrical experiences.

Music by Sonnie Beckett

This show is the worst thing I've seen in years. Imagine a very poor performance of Othello, constantly interrupted by a fanatical bore, and you'll have some idea. It's as if a particularly persistent nutter has not only sat next to you on the bus, but followed you into the theatre.

The producers state that for each ticket sold, £1 will be donated to Eaves charity. A worthy cause, but both they and you will be much better off if you give them the whole ticket price and do something - anything - else with your evening.
