STOP PRESS!!former victims of human trafficking stage an exciting new theatre performance

‘The Journey to Freedom’ written by Bola Agbaje in collaboration with Marginal Voices

MARGINAL VOICES, founded by Caryne Chapman Clark, is a pioneering theatre project specially designed for women who have been trafficked into prostitution and domestic slavery. It aims to enable former victims of trafficking to position themselves as experts; transforming their traumatic experiences into positive change.

MARGINAL VOICES impact reaches far beyond the theatre: it is a powerful agent to provoke social change, to raise public awareness about trafficking and to deliver sensitisation training to front-line professionals. As one MV participants says, “We’ve been there – we know what it’s like – we can help others”

MARGINAL VOICES has now teamed up with award winning playwright Bola Agbaje to present their first ever theatre performance, giving them the opportunity to tell it like it is.

‘The Journey to Freedom’ is the first part of a new play inspired by the women’s true-life stories of the challenges and difficulties they face rebuilding a life after trafficking. It features 5 of the Marginal Voices participants working alongside a creative professional team. Following each performance there will be an opportunity to speak with the group and find out more about sensitisation trainings for professionals working with victims of trafficking.
