In collaboration with ARTNESIA.

Norris is a female New Orleans-based visual and performance artist whose practice investigates the body and identity politics. She received an M.F.A. from Yale School of Art in 2012 and was named one of Modern Painters’ Artists to Watch in 2013. In new large-scale paintings, the artist continues her Post-Katrina series and uses her personal circumstance as an artist living and working in the 9th ward in New Orleans as a point of departure for the work. Elements of the Ronchini exhibition will translate into a feature length film Norris is producing for a biennale in the USA in autumn 2014. Included in the exhibition will be a video component in the form of a confessional monologue relating to the feature film. Her work can be seen in Radical Presence: Black Performance in Contemporary Art at The Studio Museum in Harlem, New York, until March 2014. This will be her first UK show.
