A thrilling re-telling of Shakespeare's violent tale of politics and power.

Civil war, political upheaval, violent unrest: these are the backdrop to arguably Shakespeare's most popular history play.

And centre-stage, a man who is typically portrayed either as monster or misunderstood hero, protector of the royal lineage of England or callous child murderer.

Launched to coincide with the planned re-burial of Richard's body in 2014, this production will explore the moral and political distance that exists between the known chronology of Richard's life, and the imagined events of Shakespeare's narrative.

This thrilling production will bring to life for modern audiences, the violent struggle for power among the nobility, that provided the context for Richard's rise and fall.

Following on from their hugely successful 2013 national tour of A Midsummer Night's Dream (5 stars - British Theatre Guide, "unveiled a dazzling new side to one of my favourite Shakespeare plays" WhatsOnStage), Custom/Practice bring their first Shakespeare production of 2014 to The Cockpit, in the heart of London.

Comments on Custom/Practice's previous Shakespeare productions:

"...one of the most accessible and intelligent productions of one of the favorites in the Shakespeare repertoire..." BRITISH THEATRE GUIDE
"...a delightful production....endlessly entertaining..." WHATSONSTAGE
“...the kind of energy and enthusiasm that Shakespeare thrives upon...” TIMEOUT
"...if you – like a group of reluctant teens – think that you loathe Shakespeare, head to this fantastic show." THREEWEEKSEDINBURGH
