Artism brings together work of varying scale and scope from artists with autism living and working in the UK and USA.
This is a show about empowerment, inspiration, positivity and the fact that we should never judge a person by their condition.
Approx 700 000 people in the UK have autism, often people believe that everyone with autism experiences it in the same way, this is not the case, it is a lifelong condition for which people develop their own coping strategies. It is neither a learning disability nor something that makes everyone a misunderstood genius.
Artism is a show of work by people who each experience the condition in their own way, for them art is a form of a communication, a coping mechanism and an itch that must be scratched. We hope that you will come and celebrate their work as artists in their own right.
