Formed not long before his death in November 2011, Michael Garrick was determined to rescue the Modern Jazz Quartet’ exquisite music from the neglect into which it had fallen. Like the MJQ itself the band, with the devastating young vibes, Jim Hart, is a magnificent rhythm section in its own right: a very special group on the UK scene.
