12:00–13:00: Workshop: Writing Reviews for Theatre

A chance to raise your questions in person or online with professional theatre reviewers. Learn what to expect from reviewers and how you might approach taking criticism. The panel will include reviewers from the digital and printed press including the Guardian, The Times and The Stage. £5 (£3)


13:30–14:15: Play: Normal by Paul Wallis

Normal is a zany and clever comedy that takes an irreverent look at the need to ‘act normal’ and centres on a family being investigated by the ‘Normal Inspector’. Performed and Directed by Rose Bruford College of Theatre and Performance. £5 (£3)


14:30–15:30: Workshop: In Conversation with David Wood OBE

David Wood is an award-winning National Children’s Dramatist. In this workshop you'll have an opportunity to find out about David’s work as well as the practicalities of writing plays for young people. £5 (£3)


16:00–17:00: Workshop: The Last Word with Christina Maiden, Off The Page Drama

In this session, Christina will talk about her experience of writing for young performers looking in particular at her award winning play The Last Word. Through discussion, Q&A and group activities, there will be opportunity to explore what makes theatre for young performers special and how to write plays which enable children to shine. £5 (£3)

19:00–20:00: Play: Gone Viral by Sally Hardy

Gone Viral is a coming of age story about 17 year old Cassie, who is dealing with the modern pressures of being a teenager while coming to terms with the impending loss of her terminally ill father. Directed by Tom Foster. £6.50 (£4.50)

The Writer's Day is part of Trinity's International Festival of Playwriting and Performance 2014, which runs from 7-10 May at the St. James Theatre.
