Winner of the 36th Premi Born de Teatre and the Barcelona Theatre Institute's Staging Projects Award (2011), El Principi d'Arquimedes by Catalan playwright Josep Maria Miró i Coromina comes to the Park Theatre for the UK premiere of the English translation by Dustin Langan, Archimedes' Principle. The production opens on 17 April, with previews from 15 April, and runs until 11 May in Park90.

How safe are our children in the care of a stranger? How much do we know about the people we work with? How far would we go to protect ourselves?

In a town haunted by an incident at the nearby Scouts centre, regular swimming lessons come to a halt when an instructor is accused of inappropriately touching a child during a lesson and the dangers of social media creep to the surface. When history appears to repeat itself, what can we do but expect the worst?

Following an award-winning sell-out run in Spain, this edgy, pertinent, contemporary drama now comes to London with a cast comprising of Lee Knight (Much Ado About Nothing, Wyndhams Theatre), Julian Sims (Chicago, Cambridge Theatre), Kathryn Worth (Strindberg's Apartment, Faction Theatre Company) and Matt Bradley-Robinson (Advice for the Young at Heart, UK tour). Miró i Coromina is most famous for Gang-Bang (National Theatre of Catalyuna), which saw him take on religion with bondage-gear-wearing priests.

Stories of paedophilia have recently dominated the news and, alongside the social paranoia of the digital world and the prevalence of social media, Miró i Coromina taps into our current fears. Described as the hit of the Grec Festival (La Vanguardia) and magnificent, unmissable (Time Out Barcelona), this contemporary drama will no doubt divide opinions. Head down to Park Theatre, listen to the evidence and decide for yourself.
