Paul has been in demand as a bass player since the late 70s, working with Allan Holdsworth on the seminal album “IUO”, Ian Carr's “Nucleus”, Barbara Thomson's “Paraphernalia” and Steve Topping’s “Time and Distance". Now also a well-respected producer he has often been heard at the Club playing with other people, but tonight we welcome him with his own blistering band following his great gig here last year as part of our 25th Anniversary celebrations. The line-up, who will be playing songs including classic reworkings of Quincy Jones, Bob Dylan and Luther Vandross plus some originals from Paul himself heard on his ‘Wax is Melting’ album, features ace saxophonist Rob Hughes and Paul’s regular rhythm section of Rick Laughlin-piano and Sophie Alloway-drums. Paul’s featured vocalists this month are the fantastic Gina Foster, who is probably best known for her work with the classic Groove band “Swing Out Sister” and the brilliant Victor Bynoe who includes 6 years with iconic vocal group The Drifters as well as work with the likes of Bob Geldof, Eric Clapton, Jocelyn Brown, and the late great James Brown on a glittering cv. This promises to be a great night, booking advised.
