A scholar from Chetham’s, Mike Henry graduated from the Guildhall School of Music in the late 70’s, before rapidly establishing himself as one of the most talented mainstream trumpeters of his generation. A really impressive and fluent player in the classic trad/mainstream style, Mike has played in all the major concert halls in England & Europe, appeared on numerous TV and radio programmes, and done session work in all styles of music for the likes of: Joe & Co, CBS, CTS, Abbey Road, BBC Maida Vale, Golders Green & Pebble Mill studios along with the occasional classical date for the London Symphony Orchestra. His mainstream credentials are faultless, including 12 years with the Pasadena Roof Orchestra as well as regular gigs with the likes of the Cotton Club, Echoes of Ellington and Midnite Follies Orchestras, Blue Harlem, Bryan Ferry, the Guinness Jazz band (21 appearances at the Cork Jazz Festival), Acker Bilk, Kenny Ball and Joan Viskant. To top off this illustrious career, Mike has been working with the iconic Chris Barber band since 2000. This promises to be a fun Sunday Lunch gig from one of the finest trad/mainstream musicians in the UK leading a great quintet that also features Martin Litton on piano and David Horniblow (Chris Barber) on sax and clarinet.

“..trumpeter Mike Henry led an explosive final chorus of Wabash Blues.” Gloucestershire Echo
