This class is ideal for those that have already completed our own introduction course (or similar) or those who already have a working knowledge of Final Cut Pro X and who want to increase their editing skills by learning advanced features and efficient workflows.

This one-day, hands-on course will teach you advanced editing, compositing, grading and finishing techniques, covering motion tracking, colour and shape matte creation, multi-cam clip editing, blue + green screen keying techniques, compositing modes, primary and secondary colour correction, audio mixing and 5:1 Surround Sound editing, advanced workflows for managing media, and Master output using Compressor.

Working with Compound Clips
Organising projects with advanced Metadata
Primary Colour Correction
Using Scope and Waveform to monitor colour properties
Secondary colour correction using shape and colour masks and mattes
Planar Tracking and Motion estimation
Working with Sound and Audio
Surround Sound Audio editing - animating sound design
Working with Multi-cam footage
Using keying and Masking effects, Travel Mattes, Advanced Keying features and Compositing Generators
Understanding Shot Matching
Finishing and final output with Compressor
Advanced Compressor Features

Lesson Structure:
Project-led practical exercises

Entry Requirements:
Students should have a basic working knowledge of Final Cut Pro X. Students should be fluent in English.

Tutor:
Pierre Vella is an independent digital creative working in film, video and digital technologies. He is a founding member of MITA (Moving Image Training Alliance) and runs a series of training programmes in film and video post-production, web technologies and motion graphics in London and Cambridge.

General
Each student has their own workstation for the practical parts of the course and can discuss any specific areas of interest they may have towards the end of the day with the tutor.
