This famous image of St. Paul’s will forever be associated with London’s defiance and resilience during 6 six years of war. Come with me and discover something of what London and Londoners went through in their 6 year ordeal. I will reveal evidence of London’s greatest battle of adversity. I will recall extraordinary stories of real events in the places where they happened. Looking at London today with its modern towers of concrete, steel and glass is easy to believe almost nothing of that time remains. Your guide, Stephen McCarthy is a 5th generation Londoner knows otherwise. Painstaking research, photographic evidence, first hand accounts from Londoners who were there (including his father who was an ambulance driver and rescue worker in the Blitz) will paint a picture of that time which will help you appreciate the scale, horror and heroism of that period when ‘Britain stood alone’ and London felt the brunt.
