Suzette Field, Tribune of The Last Tuesday Society, offers a CURIOUS INVITATION to The Rite of Spring – The Great May Masquerade, a concupiscent celebration, a fecund frolic and a fatal dance to the death.

On the one hundred and first anniversary of the scandalous Parisian premiere of "Le Sacre du Printemps", The Rite of Spring depicts an ancient ritual in which a pagan tribe gathers to welcome the Earth's annual renewal and propitiate the gods by selecting a sacrificial virgin*, who then ritually dances herself to death.

*No virgins were harmed in the making of this production.

Dress code: Masks Obligatory, clothing optional. Frolicsome fecundity, Fairy tale characters, forgotten glamour, fantasy, Pagan Gods, Venice Carnival, circus, top hat and tails, burlesque.

IN THE BALLROOM

Troylus Searll will welcome you to the ballroom with The Earth's Kiss: a fantasia which takes inspiration from - and the odd liberty with - Stravinsky's seminal ballet score.

The London Gay Symphony Orchestra will perform The Dance of the Earth, a terpischoreal trip through the ages, taking in the classical, the romantic and the decadent.

The Great Malarkey will initiate your into the mystery of The Secret Games of the Girls: a seductive brew of death waltz, urban skank & gypsy punk.

Attack Attack Attack will lead you to the climax of the evening, The Great Sacrificial Dance, though, due to health and safety requirements, dancing yourself death is discouraged.

ON THE CABARET STAGE

As the days grow longer our moods may be subject to an epidemic of impulsive, giddy and amorous behaviour. To celebrate this forfeit of our better selves to the vernal equinox, the cabaret stars of the Family Fierce Collective will dance, strip and flip in homage to the deities of pagan yore.

Rubyyy Jones - is a force of nature: an all singing, all dancing, all stripping, comedic-shock Divaaa.

Miss Cairo - is Norfolk's only supermodel. She is the sauciest little lamb out there.

Ungewinster - is the ringmaster of modern mime, bringing you his Carrollian caterpillar and Maddening Hatter.

Moorita - is London's Tsarina of provocative cabaret, guaranteed to astound audiences into submission.

Lolo Brow - Lolo Brow is an Awarding winning Neo-Burlesque artist, sideshow performer, sparkly drag King and Lizard Lady.

Dott and Slim - are full time sound fools. They have engineered a bespoke soundtrack for the Rite of Spring cabaret show.
Kasai Masai - is a Congolese combo, who will have you shaking to the soukous, the dance that took the packet-boat from Africa to Cuba and back again.

The Roustabouts - are a theatrical DJ duo share a penchant for the decadent and diasporic, spinning sounds from bygone eras and exotic lands.

THE WRECK OF THE HESPERUS

Dance amid the foundered hulk of the SS Hesperus with immersive theatre company Son and Sons, where the corpse of the Captain's virginal daughter hangs still lashed to the mast, the salt sea frozen on her breast, the salt tears in her eyes.
