New storytellers are invited to take to the stage and tell us a story…

In July 2013, London’s storytelling clubs went on a hunt for new blood. Now we’ve got a taste for it and once again we are casting our nets for new and nearly-new storytellers. So, come out, come out wherever you are…

Standing in the shadows and wanting to step out into the lights? Steeped in stories? Been telling tales all over the place, but not to us? We want to meet you! We’re inviting you to take to the stage to tell a folk tale, a bit of a fairytale, myth, legend, or epic. All we ask is that the material is traditional. How you tell it is entirely up to you.

We can offer you a warm, friendly and supportive audience of real live people, and a fun and exciting night. Of course, we're hoping that we might work together in the future. Lots of last year’s Fresh Blood tellers have gone on to be programmed at our regular club nights.

And if you’ve no desire to get up on stage, come along and be entertained. A storyteller is nothing without an audience. Fresh Blood awaits you….

THE NITTY GRITTY:
• You need to come ready to tell a story 6-12 minutes long (and not a moment longer)
• Storytelling slots are limited to 9 in total.
• The event is open to anyone from anywhere, but as we’re looking for people who can perform at the London clubs, it might be handy if you live in London.
• This isn’t a competition – there will be no scoring or prizes – just come ready to tell.
• We’re not looking for poets, story-readers or story-reciters… only storytellers
• Material has to be traditional/passed-on/inspired by traditional stories.
• Places are by application – to apply please e-mail [email protected] with
- Your name, your age, your postcode, your e-mail address & mobile number
- 1 or 2 sentences about yourself and 1 or 2 sentences about what you propose to tell
- Anything else you’d like to send us…
• Deadline for applications is 28th May and you’ll be told by 9th June if we can give you a slot
• If you get a slot and don’t turn up, that will be really bad…
• If you have a question, then please ask us!

WHO WE ARE: ‘Some Clubs’ is a bunch of London storytelling club promoters who meet up, eat cake and share what they know to make their clubs run better. E-mail [email protected]
