Crossness Engines Trust is hosting a series of local history events in 2014.

The Crossness Engines Trust, as one of the only two Grade I listed industrial buildings in London, will open its doors for the second local history steaming day taking place on Sunday 31st August 2014.

This event will focus mainly on the industrial history of the Crossness Engines Trust. Visitors will be given a chance to see the Beam Engine House which currently contains four engines-Prince Consort, Victoria, Albert Edward and Alexandra. The Prince Consort is the world’s largest working rotative beam engine and will be in steam throughout the day. It will be spectacular chance to learn about British industrial heritage. A large majority of the engines and artefacts on display have been lovingly restored by the Trust and will be a once in a lifetime chance to take in critical piece of British industrial heritage.

The site also offers refreshments in its café and souvenirs and gifts are easily bought at the museum shop. The Crossness Pumping Station is located approximately 6 miles from Junction 1 of the M25. The nearest rail station is Abbey Wood from where there are frequent bus services.
