Take a walk down roots alley with Rip Roarin Roots, featuring some of the best folk and blues acts London has to offer. Find them Upstairs at the Ritzy on the first Thursday of every month.

Scowlin Owl are a female fronted indie-folk band, who are big on drama and vocal harmonies. Singers Nina, Karina and Yvonne share the lead melody, but weave harmonies around each other, creating a fresh, surprising but unified sound. Their music is an original mix of indie, rock and folk elements. The band have been playing in and around London for the past two years, played Wilderness festival in 2013 and are booked for Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2014.

Scowlin Owl is Nina Lovelace (writing, vocals, acoustic and electric guitars, flute), Yvonne Bordon (writing, vocals, electric guitar), Karina Zakri (vocals, bass), and Piergiorgio Ciarla (drums). The Owls debut EP, These Strange Companions was released in 2013 to great reviews and BBC radio play.

The Hot Rock Pilgrims are an exciting new bluegrass Old-Time and Roots band bringing together Dan Edwards Vocals, Guitar and Old time banjo, Bruno Pichler on dobro, Sam Rose on vocals and double bass and Hubert Murray on vocals and guitar. This cross cultural group ranging from Ireland Germany and the UK, create roots music steeped in tradition but infused with freshness that enthrals and entertains.
