Since 2008, National Geographic Student Expeditions has been a leader of high school photography programs throughout North and South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Oceania. Through assignments in the field, classes, and critiques, these workshops challenge and inspire students to take their photography to the next level.
Students from the United States, Mexico, and Taiwan will exhibit their work on the evenings of July 16 and July 30 at Nancy Victor gallery, the culminating event of intensive ten-day photography workshops based in London. Each piece will be shot in the days previous to the exhibit and will contribute to a kaleidoscope of scenes depicting a true “snapshot” of London life. Students also visit Brighton and Stonehenge as part of their program. Accompanying the students is National Geographic Experts Gianluca Colla and Jeff Mauritzen.
Gianluca Colla has traveled and photographed around the world, from the Arctic Circle to Africa’s deserts and from the Amazon to the streets of London. His work has appeared in numerous publications, including National Geographic magazine, Condé Nast Traveler, Newsweek, the New York Times, and the Washington Post.
Jeff Mauritzen recently traveled to Africa, South America, and the Pacific photographing wildlife for National Geographic Kids’
new Animal Encyclopedia. His photography has also appeared in National Geographic books and on nationalgeographic.com. Jeff is a seasoned and popular photography instructor, frequently guiding and lecturing on trips for National Geographic Expeditions.
