The Kempton and Hampton Steam Railway is a new heritage attraction, co-located with the long-established Kempton Pumping Engines (two huge triple expansion steam engines, same as the Titanic’s).

It's NOT a miniature, ride-on, single file steam railway; in essence, in appearance, think shiny, immaculate, to all intents full-size-looking steam train (though technically, at 2 foot gauge, it’s not), with the covered carriage seating 4 abreast (with wheelchair space in the carriage and a ramp). The volunteers who run it have slaved for 10 years, making their own railways sleepers, even restoring from scratch a vintage, heritage crane – the only one of its kind to be in working order in Britain.
