Roxanne left Berlin for London, equipped only with her guitar in 2007. Not knowing anyone in London, she started playing at as many open-mic nights, bars and music venues as she could, travelling throughout the country via bus and train in order to play her songs to as many people as possible. She now tours regularly throughout the UK, Germany and the United States, in venues such as the 100 Club (London), The Cavern Club (Liverpool) and Rockwood Music Hall (NY). Roxanne’s compositions and live shows are incredibly varied in dynamism and style, ranging from intimate, lilting anti-folk to raw 60’s blues-rock. Her song-writing is influenced just as much by her travels and experiences as an independent musician as it is by her musical heroes John Lennon, Ray Davies, Bob Dylan, and Judee Sill. Roxanne opens an evening of live music at The Scoop at More London.

The second part of this evening’s performance is a showcase from Respect Music artists Me and Deboe, Danny Toeman and Hope Murphy.

Me and Deboe are an eclectic, rhythmical duo, moving effortlessly between powerful chords and delicate, percussive riffs to bring a stripped back and distinctly original sound.

Danny Toeman is one of the new generation of UK soul – Neo-Vintage. Carving out a niche in this post-modern musical landscape, this is a unique brand of home-cooked soul music that defies the typical sub-genre labelling.

Hope Murphy is an 18 year old singer / songwriter with a huge voice and a 3 octave range. Her new-soul wall of sound makes her a young talent to watch out for in 2014. At 16 she was a semi finalist in Britain's Got Talent. In February this year, she was approached by Basement Jaxx and has since been in the studio and recorded with them.

This performance is part of the More London Free Festival's Free Music season (9-25 July) featuring 3 weeks of lunchtime acoustic music, and dance and excitement in the evenings from jazz, blues, pop, soul, reggae, Latin, lounge and choirs.
