5x15 presents an evening with acclaimed novelist David Peace, in conversation with Mark Lawson

One of the most critically lauded writers of recent years, and author of The Damned Utd, David Peace has fanatical fans, like this one:

"I want to go out and knock on doors like a Jehovah's Witness and read this book to people." (Peter Hooton Observer)

He was speaking about Red or Dead, Peace’s latest book about the career of the revered Liverpool Football Club manager Bill Shankly. It’s a book that Frank Cottrell Boyce called ‘a masterpiece’ and others have likened to The Iliad. Peace will be in conversation with the award-winning cultural critic and broadcaster Mark Lawson. Join us for a rare and magical evening.

David Peace was named in 2003 as one of Granta's Best of Young British Novelists. He was born and brought up in Yorkshire and is the author of the Red Riding Quartet (Nineteen Seventy Four, Nineteen Seventy Seven, Nineteen Eightyand Nineteen Eighty Three) which was adapted into an acclaimed three part Channel 4 series, GB84, which was awarded the James Tait Black Memorial Award, and The Damned Utd, the film version of which (adapted by Peter Morgan and starring Michael Sheen) was released in Spring 2009. Tokyo Year Zero and Occupied City are the first two books in his Tokyo Trilogy. His most recent novel, Red or Dead, was published in 2013.
