The Gallery's Cafe's monthly Folk night presents music from Dead Flowers, Joe Innes & Cavalcade and Alice Phelps.
DEAD FLOWERS are a Lodnon based alt. country / americana band formed around the songs and voice of Ian Williams. The debut album features a collection of songs written whilst traveling from New York City to Montreal.
"Something quite magical." - NME
JOE INNES been playing shows in London for years, gaining support for his own personal brand of anti-folk, and finding himself supporting artists like Caitlin Rose, Mary Epworth, Toby Goodshank and Anais Mitchell. In 2012, a band was put together to record and make a bigger noise with. Thus, The Cavalcade was formed, a garage-folk outfit that has been compared to Jeffrey Lewis & The Junkyard, Bright Eyes and The Decemberists.
“Showstopping” – Steve Lamacq BBC Radio 6
“You really are the best, it’s been an absolute pleasure to spend an evening with you” -Lindsey Buckingham from Fleetwood Mac (after a performance at the 02 Arena)
ALICE PHELPS creates ambient lilting rhythmic harmonies with the harp allowing the bellowing husky vocals to be perfectly contrasted in a very unusual but beautiful way! Influenced by folk from near and far, irish to chinese, Alice blends this with non traditional and blues infused melodies.
