RAP-‐ART

London’s art showcase brings together artists of various mediums in an effort to unite and promote the capital’s underground art scene.

London – 14 July – A-Side B-Side Gallery (Hackney Downs Studios).
Rap-Art is a hip-hop music and photography evening for UK based performing artists to come and showcase their talents within the confinements of photographic art works reflective of their lifestyles. After grime loudly burst into the scene and then quietly stopped its steady evolvement, UK hop-hop’s natural evolution produced a ‘new-age’ rap that is more embracing and reflective of the culture’s current state; one which has become a portmanteau of British hedonism irrespective of class, race or age. Whilst young up and coming rappers from across the pond manage to successfully bring this new sound over to the UK and fill the venues to full capacity, UK’s own hip-hop artists are still being identified with grime or dub, which is often no longer the case. Rap-Art aims to continue to redefine the live scene of hip-hop sounds and showcase niche artists that remain neglected despite their creative brilliance.
