There’s not really a lot to say about the Happy Mondays that hasn’t been said before. Frankly, as long as we get through this without mentioning ‘madchester’ we’ll… oh, wait.
Anyway, we don’t need to talk about their place at the forefront of a cultural phenomenon without which many of the bands we cherish from the nineties onwards would be inconceivable, their assumption of the role of pre-eminent rocknroll berserkers, or the simple, joyous genius of their music. Which is why we just didn’t. We need only remind ourselves that here in 2014, through all the madness and the breakups and reformations and the shit, against all the odds they are still here, and we can still enjoy them in all their insane glory. And we will, particularly as they’ll be playing a set of rarities and their biggest tracks. Which is exactly what we want really isn’t it?
But ending things there would be no fun at all, so following on from the live show there’s a Hacienda Club Night till 4am with Old School Legends Graeme Park and Jon DaSilva. Not to mention sets from Chicago house grandee Marshall Jefferson and Peter Hook, founder member of Joy Division and New Order.
Reasons to go to this gig:
1. The Happy Mondays, obviously.
2. Hacienda Club Night with insane line up
3. Third reason not necessary…
Happy Mondays + Hacienda Club Night
