The International Piano Trio Festival plays host to an international jazz heavyweight, the legendary Crusaders pianist Joe Sample. Celebrating his 75th birthday he leads his jazz trio for the first of three nights. Sample who made his name with the Crusaders and as one of the godfathers of fusion is a superb acoustic jazz pianist who first made waves in the bands of Bobby Hutcherson and Harold Land in the late 60s before finding international stardom with the hard-bop and then funky fusion outfit the Jazz Crusaders. Expect hard-swinging hard bop and modal improvisations from an iconic figure. Also performing is this intriguing double bill is young Cuban rising star Lopez-Nussa.
