Seljuk Loom, purveyors of rare and old Anatolian kilims and rugs, are delighted to invite you to their first London exhibition taking place on Saturday August 23rd, 2014 from 12.00 to 17.00.
The exhibition will take place at the William Morris Meeting Rooms, William Morris House, 267 Broadway, Wimbledon SW19 (opposite the Polka theatre.)
Conceived out of a passion for sourcing unique Turkish kilims and carpets, Seljuk Loom offer for sale a variety of semi-antique pieces, woven by hand in the historic heartlands of Anatolia. These cicims (pronounced 'jijim', a variation of the kilim featuring greater weaving depth and detail) were all produced for non-commercial purposes, and consequently possess a warmth and depth of character that is rare in an age of mass manufacturing. Making such pieces by hand is a dying art; though one we hope to help in protecting through our support for the weaving families with whom we deal directly.
We look forward to seeing you at our first London exhibition!
