July’s Discovery showcase of hotly tipped bands features contemporary blues rock band The Greasy Slicks, alt pop and dark folk from Hawk, fresh new singer K/A/M with her band and Devon, country, singer songwriter Alex Hart plus Dj Delphi. Past performers at Discovery gigs include Ed Sheeran, Scouting for Girls, Sandi Thom, Scroobius Pip.

The Greasy Slicks
They formed in 2012 through a mutual appreciation of traditional and contemporary blues rock and strive to create the songs that don’t sound like anyone else; the results reflect just how unique they are as musicians and songwriters. Evidence of this can be heard on the track ‘Street Queen’ – all seven minutes of it received radio airplay on Tom Robinson’s 6Music Introducing Mix-tape. Their passionate live shows have been described as the soundtrack for “a bourbon-soaked bar brawl” and are where they strive to ensure audiences are captivated by the Slicks energy, commitment and musicianship.

HAWK
London-based HAWK have been described as everything from alt-pop to dark folk .
Lead singer Julie Hawk as "a bit of the Bjork side of brilliant bonkers" (Artrocker). She began collaborating with Matt Harris, as a solo project in 2012. After a year of garnering plaudits on the acoustic scene, the band gained support from DJs such as Steve Lamacq and Tom Robinson (BBC6Music). The pair joined with Sam and Chris to form HAWK, adding new edge and expansion to their sound, while retaining the detail and delicacy of their acoustic roots. This July they release their 4th release, a new double A side single and video, Antidote // Hush on Veta Records.
"A fusion of ambience and power; fronted by a soaring, crackling vocal." - Subba Culture

K/A/M
A young singer/songwriter hailing from North London. She has gone from the small intimate local open mic scene, to making a real impact on the London gigging scene, whilst writing and recording her debut EP! Watch this space! She will be performing at AAA with her band.

ALEX HART
Devon based country, pop, singer songwriter, Alex Hart has played at the Troubadour and Ronnie Scotts, supported Turin Brakes at Lyme Folk Weekend in Lyme Regis.
Last year she released a track with DJ team, Electronic Youth a cover of an Angie Stone track which went to no. 2 in the Music Week Club Charts and was played by Pete Tong (Radio 1). She's a big fan of Doris Day.
“This young singer-songwriter from Devon looks all set to make a global impact. With her distinctive voice and classy, commercial brand of modern day country music.”
