As part of the celebrations for the 50th Anniversary of the Musical Museum there will be an Open Week from 20 – 25 August. You will first encounter a fairground instrument on the lawn and inside the museum you will find tour guides playing instruments in the collection and demonstrations of the Wurlitzer organ. The Riverview Tea Room will be open for light lunches or tea and cake.

A special exhibition ‘Diamond Extravaganza’ will feature life size replicas in Cubic Zirconia of many famous polished diamonds. Replicas of the Cullinan diamond, the largest rough diamond ever found, the Koh-i-Noor diamond that Queen Victoria had re-cut and the Taylor-Burton diamond, worn by Elizabeth Taylor, will be on show. Visitors can find out how diamonds are cut and graded and are invited to bring items of jewellery to be viewed through a special microscope. A world renowned diamond expert will be on hand to answer your questions.
