Following the success of last year’s tour of Verdi's ‘La Traviata' in France and the UK, Opera Loki is making its debut at the Tea House Theatre with their production of Verdi’s 'Rigoletto'.

Roll up to witness the tragic tale of a curse, a hunchback, a maiden and a duke. A ragged group of performers, fortune tellers, and travellers come together to perform a very special piece before they disband. Together, using all of their possessions, they tell the story of another outsider, Rigoletto, a jester in the court of the Duke of Mantua.

Verdi's beautiful music is combined with Victorian supernaturalism in this haunting new production.

Part of a growing trend of bringing popular opera to trendy venues, the cast includes an impressive collection of British singing talent. Opera Loki is a small charity that aim to support singers early in their careers and bring opera in English to regional communities.

"I think the roars of approval at the end of the evening said it all. It was a cracking performance."

"What an evening. The only place I expect to be made to cry is Covent Garden, but apparently not! They were wonderful. Such a beautiful voice from the lead, and a beautiful face to go with it."

The performances at the Tea House follow two performances in French venues and a short run in Wimbledon. The troupe complete their tour with performances in Alton, Warwick and the Hurlingham Club.

Rigoletto is directed by Rae Leaver, music directed by Nick Fletcher and produced by Jane Gray.
