Sambrook’s is delighted to announce the return of Beer by the River, its annual birthday celebration, on Saturday 30 August at the National Trust’s Morden Hall Park. To mark our sixth birthday we have launched a Home Brew Competition to find the best home brew in London and the South East.

Home brewers from across the region are invited to bring along their best bottled beer for sampling on the day. Beer by the River festival goers will be invited to sample and vote for their favourite beer before an expert panel of judges selects the winner from a shortlist of the most popular beers on the day.

The winner will have the chance to brew their beer with the team at Sambrook’s Brewery and launch it at pubs throughout London during Cask Ale Week. It will also be bottled and served in National Trust properties throughout the South East.

The Home Brew Competition is just one new addition to the Beer by the River festival. Following its success in 2013, Sambrook’s and the National Trust have made the event bigger and better – more music, more food and more beer!

This year’s event will continue our celebration of beer, food and music, with local food producers, entertainers and craft brewers from around the UK. The event will run from 12pm to 11pm.

Throughout the day, there will be a whole host of live acts curated by Scott Illman and Tony Moore, who have a history of running successful music events and festivals in South London. ‘Kit Rice’ will kick off the evening show and the very upbeat ‘Lauren Flynn’ will be closing. We still have a few more exciting bluegrass acts to be confirmed for the evening so there will be lots to keep you entertained.

There will be Locally sourced food, including seafood and vegetarian options from the ever popular Clapham-based sustainable fish restaurant, FishClub.

During the day, Sambrook’s will be serving their range of award-winning ales to revelers, including their full range of cask ales. As a nod towards other new and established brewers who have helped Sambrook’s along their 6 year journey, a range of carefully selected guest beers will be available for guests (over the age of 18) to try.

There will be lots of family fun during the day including: vintage fairground rides, a bouncy castle, face painting and more.
