As part of the Keep Britain Tidy campaign, this year local McDonald’s crew from the Commercial Road and The Highway restaurants in Tower Hamlets have been organising their annual community clean up event to continue its commitment to tackle litter and take pride in the appearance of its local environment.

After last year’s success cleaning up King Edward Memorial Park, local McDonald’s franchisee Tariq Hussain and his team are joining forces with the team at Tower Hamlets’ Cleaner Greener Volunteering and are inviting the community to get involved.

In its previous year, donning high visibility jackets and armed with litter pickers, franchisee Tariq Hussain and his restaurants crew members came together with Veolia Environment, Shadwell Safer Neighbourhood Team, Tower Hamlets Police Cadets and the local residents, and collected over 20 bags of litter.

Now in its fourth year, the event will be just one of hundreds of McDonald’s clean-up events taking place across the country in 2014 as part of Keep Britain Tidy’s anti-littering campaign, ‘Love Where You Live’. McDonald’s is also the primary sponsor of the Mayor of London’s ‘Capital Clean-Up’ campaign, which provides clean-up kits to community groups and aims to bring Londoners together to take pride in their city.

With many clean up actitivies to do such as litter picking, laying mulch and punning, come and be part of the event.

Simply turn up or contact Tower Hamlets Volunteer Coordinator, Sam Dundas-Dunbar on 020 7364 6696.
