The Consortium for the Protection of Grana Padano is delighted to invite Londoners to enjoy Grana Padano Aperitivo Hour, a celebration of the famous Italian tradition of pairing Grana Padano with an aperitif. For the second year in a row, Londoners will have the chance to enjoy delicious bites of Grana Padano along with their after work drink at popular venues across the city.

From 19th to 21st August 2014 (between 5.30pm and 9.00pm), selected bars and restaurants across London will be offering the chance to enjoy delicious Grana Padano cheese with your after-work tipple. Italians have long enjoyed Grana Padano as a snack with their evening drink, knowing that it can bring out the full and complex flavours of an aperitif, and now Londoners can too!

Our staff will be on hand to recommend the best aperitif to complement your Grana Padano cheese, and at specific venues you will have the opportunity to enjoy drinks, promotions and to win prizes….. and have fun!

Why not join in with Grana Padano Aperitivo Hour at one of these venues:

• Vats Wine Bar, Holborn
• High Timber, Mansion House
• Wine Wharf, London Bridge
• Blackfriars Wine Bar, Southwark
• Smithy’s Wine Bar, Kings Cross

Time as an essential ingredient. As the cheese matures, the aromas and flavours evolve. There are three different vintages of the cheese: Grana Padano (aged between nine and 16 months), Grana Padano ‘over 16 months,’ and Grana Padano ‘RISERVA’ (over 20 months). The different maturation stages give it a versatility that allows it to taste great with a wide variety of wines and recipes.

Grana Padano a Protected Designation of Origin (PDO). Recognised and protected by the Italian state and the European Union, Grana Padano PDO status means that it is essentially and exclusively linked to the particular area in Northern Italy, the Padana Valley, where it is produced and has been for nearly 1,000 years. It is inseparable from the climate, culture, and the know-how of the people that create it. This ensures the ultimate in quality, authenticity and traceability, making it an ideal ingredient in meals and snacks around the globe.
