‘National Treasure’ is a much misused term….like legend and icon and superstar. But if there’s one person who deserves such accolades - and more - it’s Nana Mouskouri.

Nana Mouskouri is one of the Top Female vocalists of all time. She has literally sold hundreds of millions of records.

She records in eight languages, sings in 13, and has been performing since she was in her teens. She has sung with all the greats and has won fans in every corner of the globe – even Bob Dylan wrote a song for her.

Now, to celebrate her 80th Birthday, she embarks on a year long tour that takes her across the globe. She will be accompanied on it by her four French musicians and her daughter Lénou who has had her own singing career in France since 2001.

Nana arrives in the UK in the Autumn to play the Royal Albert Hall on September 25th, seven years since she last played there. She also plays Dublin, Glasgow and Manchester and a new CD, Happy Birthday Tour, is released on September 8th to coincide.

But the tour isn’t just to celebrate her birthday, it is to pay homage to the composers and writers who have inspired her singing throughout the years. As she says,

"Singing was my first love and always helped me to breathe. After celebrating 50 years of my "White Rose of Athens" three years ago, I realised 2012 was 50 years since I worked with Quincy Jones and recorded my first album in New York. In 2013 it was 50 years since "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" with Michel Legrand and 50 years since the Eurovision Song Contest in London with the BBC.

This year, 2014, it will be 50 years since I worked with Harry Belafonte and had my first stage experience in the USA and Canada. So I thought the journey would be worth celebrating, singing songs from my favourite composers and writers, for all my dear friends, the audience."

With more than 350 million units sold worldwide, Nana Mouskouri’s recordings have outsold the Beatles and Elvis Presley combined. Nana has travelled the world as a UNICEF ambassador where she has made personal donations to help the lives of children in almost every country she has visited. She has also been a member of the European Parliament.

Possessing a breathtaking voice that has understandably captured her legions of fans, Nana reins still, an unassuming superstar. It has been a remarkable journey...this is a show to be seen.
